Research On Quality Control Of Magnetic Head Parting Coating Bonding Process

The manufacturing process flow of magnetic head consists of several cycles of bonding/mechanical slicing/edge blending/cleaning. Head parting is the last slicing process of the whole process after which the block would be also cut into magnetic head's millimeter length level. Before head parting, the block needs to be bonded on tool. A good bonding process could offers large bonding force. If boding force is larger than cutting force, magnetic head wouldn't move or fly off during head parting and thus magnetic head's profile and dimension can be assured. For traditional head parting manual bonding process, process parameters are qualitative rather than quantitative thus quality relies much on human beings. In this thesis, we mainly study how to control bonding process quality quantitatively after introducing dispenser.In the beginning, head parting bonding process and dispenser's current status are studied domestic and abroad. By learning others'research on this filed, the feasibility is studied and the possible problems might occur is predicted. During design stage, firstly the input and output relationship of dispenser is studied with the knowledge of six sigma. Based on DOE's experiment plan, related data is collected and the input factors how and how much affect output response is studied. And secondly the input and output relationship of head parting bonding process is studied. In the end, by using statistical process control, how to recognize process abnormal wave effectively is studied. Also some possible abnormality is stated. With all these methods, head parting bonding process's quality is ultimately controlled in statistical steady state.
