With the development of economy, the application field of die-casting mold is expanding gradually and the technology of die-casting mold is developing. Its design is a complex process which contains knowledge and experience. The parting mould design is one of the most important technology in all kinds of die-casting mold design. How to change the design pattern of parting mould in order to use shorten time and cost for producing high-quality die-casting has become one of the hot issues in the research of die-casting mold design.Aiming at the parting mould technology,three main contents in parting mould technology was discussed,including parting mould direction confirmation, parting line recognition and parting face generation,according to which,parting mould digitization system was established and the proposed method was comfirmed through example working.The main research in this paper is as follows:(1) On the determination of parting direction,the method of optimal direction of parting direction based on the automatic recognition of undercut features was proposed. The significant influence of undercut features on the confirmation of parting direction was taken into consideration.In addition, other factors which influences mold parting direction were utilized to optimize calculation.(2) Aiming at the recognition of parting line, a method to confirm the recognition of parting line based on improved AS alogorithm can recombine the outline of discrete point. It also inherited the characteristic of high efficiency and accuracy from AS algorithm.(3) On the generation of parting face, a mixed design method was proposed based on the confirmation of paring line.The method adopted different design means for different kinds of parting line through regulation design and example reference avoiding the large amount of calaction problems produced by pure mathematical model, which is benefit to the decrease of dependence on mould designer in the procession of mould design.(4) Aiming at the proposed theory, parting mould digitization design system was established. The system uses UG as development platform, Microsoft Access to establish database, Microsoft Visual C++to program, UG secondary development tools to design the interface.
