Analysis About Clothing Change After The Reform And Opening Up In China

This article refers the changes of clothing after the economic reformation and opening up in China. It mainly takes the covers of “People's pictorial”(1978-2015) as researching material through brand new point of views to analysis. “People's pictorial”started publication in 1964, it is the official magazine in China and the title is an autograph signed by Chairman Mao. This magazine is one of the four magazines that were keeping publication during the Cultural Revolution in China and the first one that started put color film to illustrated magazine in China. The illustrations on “People's pictorial” is documentary record which is quite good for summary the phenomena on clothing trends of different ages and reflect the representative characters of each age as well.The author gathered the data refers to gender, age, nation, occupation of the figures on cover of “People's pictorial” from 1978 to 2015 and conclude the regularity of changes on their dressing habit of design, style, colors to analysis the clothing characters of different ages. Through the analysis of the concluded data about figures' basic information and people's clothing, characters of changes on clothing after economic reform and opening up from 1978 to 2015 was basically divided into three stages which are start to realize dressing choices to the eighties(1978-1989), the recognition of self-realization and body to the nineties(1990-1999), fashion collaboration in modern ages to the twenty first century(2000-2015). Then through the analysis and comparison of the mode on clothing of cover figures in each age, this article explored and explained the reasons that people choose to dress up like that and also the transition of choice on clothing. In the end, based on the analysis, concluded data and reasons, this paper mainly focus on the angles of politics, economics, culture,dressing demand and psychoanalysis to dig out the regularity of clothing trend.Choosing the totally new angle of views to explore how the clothing trend changes in China after the economic reform and opening up policy has been implemented, based on the covers of “People's pictorial” and statistical data, to conclude the changing characters on clothing trend, fashion trend and dig out the factors that lead to the trend.
