Analysis And Application Research Of Women's Informal Dress In "The Young Companion" Pictorial

The display of women's informal dress in “The Young Companion” Pictorial has an important guiding effect on the dress patterns of Chinese women.It broke the old and feudal dress concept,guided the physical and mental healthy development of women,as well as accelerated the modernization of Chinese women's dressing,changed the previous single style of clothing that had slower update pace.With the structural analysis of the women's informal dress images in the “The Young Companion” Pictorial,the author divided the informal dress into three parts,sportswear,cheongsam,and casual clothes.This paper is divided into the following six chapters according to the content:The first chapter is the introduction,describes the research background,status quo and methods,as well as concludes that the topic is a blind spot in the hot spot.With the analysis of literatures,the second chapter to the fourth chapter respectively explain the development track of informal dress,the interpretation of popular elements and the impact on the development of women's clothing.The author drew the following conclusions:(1)the sportswear had two development periods,the former traditional type and the later modern type,especially that the transformation of women's sportswear was completed after 1929.The modern women sportswear in China had an important leading role in Chinese women,while changing the traditional clothing shapes,it was an important turning point in liberating the body and mind of most China's women.(2)the cheongsam had three development periods,while the peak development period of cheongsam was from 1930 to 1937.The cheongsam is one of the representative women's clothing with oriental characteristics,in particular,the introduction of western-style production techniques like set-in sleeve and dart accelerated the transformation of traditional clothing into modernization.(3)the casual wear had two development periods.The introduction of Western-style casual clothes broke the original single clothing style of cloth and skirt(trouser),increased the style and update speed,and finally opened the prelude for the development of China's modern clothing.The fifth chapter is the design and practice of popular costume elements in “The Young Companion” Pictorial.The author made innovative design practices for representative cheongsam collars,clothing edge decorations,and character signs,finally completed the design and production of the series of costumes “The Young Companion” with the above content.The sixth chapter is the summarization and forecast to the full paper.This paper is devoted to systematically analyze and extract the elements of women's informal dress from “The Young Companion” Pictorial,then combine with the modern design to provide a certain reference value for modern retro women's clothing design.
