China is a big country in production of polyester,the ratio of polyester staple fiber takes amount of up to 60%.However,the differentiation,functionality,and species of polyester are devoloping slowly in our country.At the same time,pearl shell is one of Chinese advantages in resources,performances with high yield and low cost,taking its powder as additives can make materials to reach far-infrared health care and UV function;Furthermore,the use of shaped fiber production technology from wicking fabric has been widely used in our daily lives and are subject to market and the majority of sports enthusiasts.Based on the above background,this paper takes subject of an overall product development fromtaking pearl shell powder as a functional additive,then conducted a wicking polyester staple fiber with differentiation development,and then yams,fabrics and socks.Relying on ultra-fine grinding technology,functional masterbatch preparation of pearl shell was made,and then with a certain percentage,polyester chips was mixed with polyester as to blending for spinning.Spinning method was used ten-shaped cross-section,producted polyester staple fiber with content of 2.1%pearl powder.By the studied on fiber properties and morphology of drawn fiber distribution,it came out powder contents,cross-section shape,surface grooves,and processability.And then the pearl shell polyester yarn producted and tested,using the conventional yarn testing method,this paper tested the quality of yarn strength,twist,hairiness and evenness properties.Based on experimental data on fiber and yarn production processes,it could both feedback to fiber production process and follow-up product development guidance.Then,takes pearl shell polyester staple fiber and spun yarns as materials,we made research on wicking fabric and socks development and evaluation.It carried out mainly on objective testings such as far-infrared fabric care,anti-ultraviolet function test,moisture wicking performance,and conventional comfort tests,and so on;and also subjective evaluations on socks as to evaluate effectively on pearl shells wicking ability,functionality and also wearing comfort.SPSS software was used to make analysis the comprehensive assessment of experimental data.Studies have shown;pearl shell powder with 2.1%content of cross shaped polyester staple fiber performances excellent capacity on far-infrared emission that its standard is better than common requirements of textile industry,and also in anti-UV ability,and enhances the common products’ wicking ability.Compared with ordinary polyester,fabric comfort significantly improved.It’s a new type of fabric and sock product that simultaneously with anti-UV,far-infrared health care,whitening skin care,and moisture wicking capabilities.It’s a new field of study of taking pearl shell powder as an additive for the production of differentiated polyester staple fiber.Through this research and development,it has the chance for pearl shells polyester staple fiber to devolope deeply and extended in application essencialy,the promotion of their products will not only provide consumers with more comfortable wicking clothing,but also enrich our industries with differentiated polyester varieties,while the use of discarded pearl shells play a positive role on the persuit of low carbon age trend.
