The Research On The Influencing Factors Of Enterprise Environment Performance

With the appearance of serious environmental problem, environmental pollution events occur frequently and environmental problem has become the focus of society. The government, environmental groups, media and the public provide solutions to solve environmental problems. However, actual situation is not optimistic. Measures which people take don't solve the environmental problems. Solving the environmental problems is a long way to go. In the process of carrying out social and economic activities, enterprises consume a large amount of natural resources at the same time. So the enterprises is the main body to produce environmental problems, should also be the main body to solve environmental problems. However, enterprises regard wealth maximization as the enterprises'goal, and how to make the enterprises achieve economic interests and environment protect at the same time, becomes the key to the sustainable development of human successfully. Environmental performance, as a tool of measuring enterprise environmental management' efficiency, becomes the focus of society. How to improve the environmental performance of enterprises and find out the factors are also the focuses of society. In this paper, analyzing the influencing factor of enterprises' environmental performance and putting forward advices to improve the environmental performance are very necessary. At present, there are not a lot of the researches related to the influencing factor of environmental performance, so this paper tried to make some preliminary exploration.This paper introduced the connotation of enterprise environmental performance and its characteristics. And under the framework of the theory related to enterprise environmental performance, this paper analyzed the influencing factors of enterprise environmental performance. The factors included the enterprise scale, operating performance, corporate governance, government regulation, consumers'concerns and media supervision. And corporate governance is divided into size of directors'board, the proportion of independent directors, size of supervisors'board and ownership concentration. This paper selected 53 thermal oower industry's listed companies from Shanghai stock exchange and Shenzhen stock exchange in 2009 to 2013, as samples for empirical research. The results showed that: environmental performance level and the enterprise scale, operating performance, the proportion of independent directors, size of supervisors'board, government regulation, consumers' concerns and media supervision has significantly positive correlation; environmental performance level and ownership concentration has significantly negative correlation; the correlation of environmental performance level and the size of directors' board is not significant. Finally, according to the result of empirical study, this paper putted forward some advices to improve the level of environmental performance.
