During the construction of modern chemical engineering projects, the petrochemical industry construction projects are complicated in design process, strict requirements in design technical and the investment’s huge. There are many factors which have influence to the quality of the petrochemical industry construction projects. The quality of engineering design would directly affect the final quality and the project investing purpose of the chemical engineering projects. So it is very important for us to do well in the quality management of modern chemical engineering projects.Taking the piping design quality management in chemical engineering projects as research object, the quality management theory of project life cycle and manage, quality management of PDCA circulation, project schedule program as theory basis. Doing statistic analysis for piping design problems in preliminary design stage, detail design stage and site service stage. Combining with some piping problems in 5 finished large & middle scale projects in J Chemical design institute, to find out the major factors of influence piping design quality, and come up with the significance of strengthen piping design quality management.During the process of analysis, we list some engineering project cases, doing detail states in piping design quality managements, limited scope of piping knowledge, connected with design conditions, communication channel and so on. Then put forward the piping total quality control thoughts. In the thoughts, at first, we will introduce piping design teamwork of organizational structure and personal responsibility,bring up the framework of the thoughts. Secondly, we will control piping design quality during the main design stage and measures in piping design quality, put up with solution channel. Finally, we will provide some methods of improve piping design quality.The main research result of the article is put forward the piping total quality control thoughts. We come up with some solution of piping design quality management aiming at intense competition of chemical market and transformation of EPC mode. And get some the promotion of long-distance developing in piping design quality of modern chemical engineering projects.
