Compared with other twisting machines, the cable twisting machine belonging to the high-tech ones has a large market, and its product is of high quality. With the rapid development of the technology, the continuously increasing requirement of the industrial cord pressurizes the processing equipment to be updated. While the domestic twisting apparatus still has some problems to be solved at present, such as the poor reliability and low performance.In this thesis, the progress of the domestic and overseas twisting machine is introduced briefly at first. Then, the twisting process and the principle of control system are explained. Lastly, a new type of electrical control system of the cable twisting machine is proposed. In this new system, human-machine interface based on SIMATIC WinCC flexible platform is designed to set producing parameters and monitor the process.PLC(programmable logic controller)as the core of the main control module links the touch-screen of the upper system and the lower spindle station control system. Frequency converters control the motors and is controlled by PLC through Modbus protocol. The spindle station has its control unit with high-performance of Cortex-M3 ARM embedded controllers and high-reliability of CAN(Controller Area Network) bus,which makes the control system more robust. The iCoupler® isolation device is adopted to improve the anti-interference ability of the system.Test in the laboratory shows that the electrical control system functions well. However,some items need to be verified on-site, for example, the control effect of the degree of twist and the efficiency of energy saving.
