This dissertation takes the presentation of Chinese delegation in UN Climate Conference between 2009 to 2017 as an example, which uses the semantic analysis to sums up the image of China's environmental protection, then compared with reports which published by the Western mainstream media,“The New York Times”.After the comparison, the environmental image of China will be characterized.Through the comparison between “self-plastic” and “his-plastic”,the differences of the image presented by the Chinese delegation and “The New York Times” will be revealed.According to these discrepancies, the conclusion proposed several specific suggestions to construct the national environmental protection image in climate diplomacy for China.Through the research,it found that at the UN climate conference,China gradually transformed from a passive “confrontational negotiation” to a proactive “cooperative negotiation”,thus it becomes a responsible country. However, the New York Times reports about China has dual aspects and complexity. On the one hand,it focused on negative reports shaped a threatening image about Chinese environmental protection. On the other hand,it affirmed China's efforts to develop clean energy and shaped China as the advocate in the correlative filed. The suggestions to construct national environmental protection image in climate diplomacy are including promoting the transformation of environmental protection image from passive to active, respecting cultural differences between international communication, and strengthening international communication and cooperation.
