Spilomelinae is subordinate to Crambidae(Lepidoptera: Pyraloidea). Many species of this subfamily are important economical pests to agriculture and forestry. The research history on Spilomelinae is reviewed and this thesis is a study on the taxonomy and fauna of Spilomelinae from Hainan Island,China based on specimens deposited in Southwest University,Nankai University and Sun Yat-sen University. All the morphological terminologies used in this thesis follow Li,et al.(2009).1.TaxonomyA total of 214 species of 78 genera of Spilomelinae are recorded from Hainan Island,China.Among them,159 species in 68 genera are studied on specimen.Of them,6 species are endemic to China. One genus,Chrysothyridia Munroe, and 6 species,Patania clava Xu et Du,Pycnarmon virgatalis Moore and Rehimena striolalis Snellen are endemic to Hainan. One genus,Chrysothyridia Munroe,is newly recorded to China.Three species,Chrysothyridia invertalis(Snellen),Rehimena cissophora(Turner)and Tyspanodes gracilis Inoue are newly recorded to China.Four genera,Chrysothyridia Munroe,Nomophila Hübner,Notesia Yamanaka and Poliobotys Shaffer & Munroe, and 35 species are newly recorded to Hainan.Seventeen species, which were described simply, are redescribed and 3 species newly recorded to China are first described in Chinese.Genitalia images of 22 male and 9 female are given.Keys to genera and species are offered. The geographical distribution information of each genus and species are provided.2.FaunaAccording to the specimen and literatures, the geographical distribution information of Spilomelinae from Hainan Island is recorded. The distribution of 78 genera and 214 species in Hainan Island are analyzed and summarized using the perspective of zoogeographical division of the world and of China.Spilomelinae from Hainan Island,Taiwan Island and other four areas are analysized using the two bivariate analysis coefficient. The results are as follows:In the level of the genus,a total of 78 genera of Spilomelinae from Hainan Island are assigned to the Oriental region in Zoogeographical region of the world.Sixty-three genera of them, accounting for 80.77% of the fauna, are distributed in Palaearctic region;sixty genera,76.92%,in Australian region;fifty genera,64.10%,in Afrotropical region;forty genera,51.28%,in Neotropical region,twenty-eight genera, for 35.90%,in Nearctic region.Seventy-eight genera of Spilomelinae from Hainan consist of 17 distributional patterns. Most genera from Hainan Island,seventy-four genera,94.87% of the fauna, are cross-region distribution;four genera,5.13%,endemic to Oriental region;six genera,7.69%,in Palaearctic and Oriental region;tewnty-two worldwide distributed genera account for 28.21% of the fauna.Seventy-eight genera from Hainan Island are assigned to the South-China region in Zoogeographical region of China.Sixty-five genera of them,83.33% are distributed in Central-China region;fifty-three genera,67.95%,in Southwest-China region;thirty-seven genera,47.44%,in North-China region;eighteen genera,23.08%,in Qinghai-Tibet region;seventeen genera,21.79%,in Northeast-China region and eleven genera,14.10%,in Mongol-Xinjiang region. The Spilomelinae genera from Hainan consist of 15 distributional patterns.Sixty-seven genera,85.90% of the fauna, are cross-region distribution;eleven genera,14.10%,endemic to the South-China region. In the level of the species, taking a total of 214 species of Spilomelinae from Hainan Island,in Oriental region in Zoogeographical region of the world,as a whole. One hundred and forty-four species of them,67.29%,are distributed in Palaearctic region;then 67 species,31.31%,in Australian region;forty-six species,21.50%,in Afrotropical region;fourteen species,6.54%,Nearctic region;eleven species,5.14%,in Neotropical region. The species of Spilomelinae from Hainan Island consist of 16 distributional patterns. Most species of them,168 species accounting for 78.51%,are cross-region distribution.Forty-six species,21.49%,are endemic to the Oriental region;eighty species,37.38%,in Oriental and Palaearcticr region;four species,1.87%,are distributed worldwidely. In Zoogeographical region of China, these 214 species of Spilomelinae are assigned to the South-China region. One hundred and fifty-five species of them,72.43% are distributed in Central-China region;one hundred and ten species,51.40%,in Southwest-China region;seventy-one species,33.18%,in North-China region;twenty-two species,10.28%,in Northeast-China region;twenty-one species,9.81%,in Qinghai-Tibet region;twelve species,5.61%,in Mongol-Xinjiang region. The species of Spilomelinae from Hainan consist of 23 distributional patterns. One hundred and seventy-three species,80.84%,are cross-region distribution;forty-one species,19.16%,are endemic to the South-China region.According to the distribution of Spilomelinae from Hainan Island, the subfamily distributes in most parts of Hainan Island, mainly in the central region, southwestern region and southeastern region. It closely consistents with the geographical features, vegetation and economy development situation in different area on Hainan Island. In this paper,Spilomelinae from Hainan is compared with Taiwan Island and other four areas. The two bivariate analysis coefficient of Spilomelinae between Hainan Island and Guangdong,Fujian,Taiwan are 0.56,0.51,0.52(>0.5)respectively,which are significant similarity. It indicates that there are many common species and high similarity between Hainan Island and other four areas. The two bivariate analysis coefficient of Spilomelinae between Hainan Island and Henan and Japan are 0.26 and 0.43 respectively(<0.5),which is not significant similarity. It should be related to the location of these areas.
