As an ancient science of medicine in china, the traditional chinese medicine(TCM)has a very long history which can be dated back to thousands years ago. After a long time of research and clinical development,TCM has been proved to be an effective and feasible method in the perspectives of prevention, therapy and health care. The TCM experts from different dynasties have made great efforts through the personal practice on the exploration, research and summarization of diagnosis and therapy by the methods with their own characteristics. No matter how highly appreciation their findings got, most of them are quite subjective, limited and regarded as personal experiences which can hardly be repeated. As a result,it is very difficult for other investigators to do the TCM research as a whole in a systematic and theoretical way so that the profound theory of TCM drives away the following researchers who are not familiar with it at the same time.In the 21th century, with the progress in various subjects of modern science, mathematics and statistics have provided quite a large number of theories and methods to almost all the academic fields so that the nature behind the phenomenon gradually appear in front of us after the process of data analysis. In this circumstance,we attempt to collect the clinical data from TCM and convert the data from character to numeric in order to do the statistical analysis in the way of modern science. In this paper the classification algorithm in statistics will be applied to study the disease syndrome types in TCM,which is supposed to be a new method to explore the essential intention of the ancient science of medicine.
