Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is the quintessence of our country. For thousands of years, it has made a significant contribution to the health of the people of the world, and it is much important in people’s heart. A fundamental principle of the understanding and treatment of disease in TCM is syndrome differentiation and treatment, and syndrome differentiation is the prerequisite and the base of choosing the ways of treatment. The research about syndrome differentiation is vague and complex, in the process, disease is mostly described in natural language, and its nature is decided by the feeling of the doctors. This kind of empirical knowledge of medical science makes TCM difficult to be inherited and developed. Therefore, making use of the modern computer technology to help and simulate the thought of syndrome differentiation in TCM and to promote the modernization of TCM, which is vitally important for the inheritance and popularization of TCM.The gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome is used to describe the syndrome in TCM about hypertension whose concept is put forward by the Western medicine and includes cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease, it is one of the most common syndromes of hypertension. In recent years, the prevalence of hypertension has been going up, which makes people pay more and more attention to the hypertension. It becomes the focus and difficult problems in medical community that how to do the prevention and treatment of hypertension efficiently. The research of gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome that is the most common syndrome, is of great importance to the prevention and treatment of hypertension and stroke. Besides, the modeling research about the gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome can help the doctors to know the patient’s condition and choose the ways of treatment, which has an important scientific and clinical significance.In this paper,considering the high-dimensional characteristic of the TCM data, the modeling research of gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome is done with the method of multivariate adaptive regression spline. The major work of this thesis is summarized as follows:(1) By building the model of predicting the level of gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome, the mapping relationship between its level and symptom is explored, the symptom variable of the model is selected and the coefficient of each function that is related to symptom indicator is estimated, the influence on the output that each variable has is analyzed to give doctor instructions to control the symptom indicators reasonably that whose coefficient of function is relatively large, and exercise its restraints upon the deterioration of gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome indirectly. Predicting the severity of the gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome by the model that has been built can help doctors to have a intuitive feeling about the patient’s condition.(2) The cases of gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome can be classified into cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease according to the theory of "The same syndromes exist in different diseases". For the right decision about the treatment of different disease, the classification model of gan-yang-shang-kang syndrome is built to classify the cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease and give doctor instructions to make a more appropriate choice of the treatment better for "The same syndromes exist in different diseases".
