Exhibition Design Of The Insect Hall Of Zhihua Museum

Zhihua Museum will be built on the campus of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University,in which insects should be one of the main display content.Based on the knowledge of entomology and the basic method of exhibition,the contents and methods of display,the distribution of exhibition space and the effect of insect hall of Zhihua Museum were designed.The basic idea of design was to spread the entomology through the combination of insect knowledge and fun.According to entomology and the characteristics of the existing collections of insect specimen,1190m2 exhibition hall was divided into six exhibition halls,included insect knowledge hall,special insect hall,live insect hall,insect and culture hall,insect and human life hall and insect fun hall.The special insect hall included butterfly area,beetle area,firefly area,chirp insect area and dragonfly area.The insect and culture hall included insect and literature area,insect and music area,famous entomologist area and insect and painting area;the insect and human life hall included home insect area,campus insect area,insect and agriculture area,insect and forestry area,insect and industry area and insect and medicine area;the insect fun hall included insect game area,specimen making area and insect video area.The exhibition space was reasonably distributed by the way of topic display according as the contents of exhibition hall and exhibition area.The visit route was planned on the basic of tandem-style.The situation plan,impression drawing and visit route were determined by the prime principles of full and reasonable space use.The shortest visit route was 180 m,and the full visit route should be longer than 550 m.This design focused on introducing systematic entomology with more interesting way to visitors,creating a vivid atmosphere for visitors.Visitors could not only understand insect species and their habits,but also know the practical skills for pest control.This design of the insect hall should be an important and useful reference for the construction and exhibition planning of Zhihua Museum.
