On the basis of collecting and utilizing predecessors' research results and data, making the full use of the remote sensing's technical advantages of real-time, speediness, high efficiency and macro-observation and the combining utilizing of GPS technique and present-day information collection technology such as photographing and picturerecording, we investigated the geological heritage resources in Heihe City of Heilongjiang Province. Using the combining method of qualitative evaluation and quantitative evaluation(AHP), we evaluated the geological heritage resources in Heihe City of Heilongjiang Province. We compiled the distribution diagram of geological heritage resources in Heihe City by digital mapping technique.Heihe City is rich in geological heritage resources with a wide variety. The main types of geological heritage resources are stratigraphic profiles, lithological sections, important fossil sites, important rock and mineral locations, rock mass and soil-mass landforms, volcanic terrains and water landforms. The geological heritage resources are mainly distributed around Wudalianchi, Nenjiang county and Aihui district with little geological heritage resources in other areas.The qualities of the geological heritage resources in Heihe City are very high, in which there are 4 of world-class geological heritage resources(composing 12.12% of the total), 4 of nation-level geological heritage resources(composing 12.12% of the total), 16 of province-class geological heritage resources(composing 48.84% of the total), 9 of region-class geological heritage resources(composing 27.27% of the total) and not locality-level geological heritage resources. In the whole geological heritage resources, the volcanic landforms and the landscapes related with volcanic eruptions are very precious and unusual. The shilongites, jet cones, lava-dammed lakes and mineral springs are renowned in China and foreign countries and famous all over the world.Using the combining method of qualitative evaluation and quantitative evaluation(AHP), evaluating the geological heritage resources in Heihe City is feasible and achievable making the evaluation results more scientific and reasonable and avoiding the randomness and uncertainty of the evaluation results made by a single qualitative evaluation and evaluators.
