Botanical gardens(BGs) have attracted a large number of visitors, more and more BGs proposed the concept of Education in Entertainment in order to improve their core competitiveness, highlighting the characteristics of Popular Science Tourism. Popular Science education is one of the most basic functions of the BGs and BGs is the base for popular science education. So that visitors can learn about knowledge of plants and environmental protection in the leisure and entertainment at the same time. Exhibition boards is one of the most important forms of popular science education, which pass knowledge of science in an intuitive, simple and understandable way. However, there is no botanical garden to assess the effect on exhibition boards. Therefore, it is of great significance to assess the exhibition boards and identify problems and make improvements. This study includes two main aspects, Self-assessment and the assessment of others, carried in Wuhan BG. Self-assessment is carry on the survey of the number and location of exhibition boards. The assessment of others is from the perspective of tourists. On one hand, the questionnaire was distributed to visitors to learn about their motivation, satisfaction and suggestion of exhibition boards. On the other hand, the behavior of tourists was overserved. The third part of the study was assess the difference of learning result between two form of exhibition boards, one form is combine with corresponding plant and the other is not.The survey, observation, questionnaire and interview was used to collecting data, and the data was analysis by frequency analysis, cross analysis, independent sample t-test and so on. The results as follows:(1)51.6% tourists regard “gaining knowledge” as the main motivation of visiting the exhibition boards, followed by 21% “as tourism landscape”, 18.2%”curious”, 2.3%” boredom”, 4.2 “rest”.(2)10.2% visitors considered the exhibition boards attractive. The tourists who say he will come back to visiting the exhibition boards are 76.6%, will recommend it to others visitors accounted for 70.7%, the rate of environmental awareness increasing, and the relation to the plant closely and might to raising a plant were 87.9%, 87.1% and 79.3%.(3) To the satisfaction of exhibition boards, 69.5% visitors express satisfied, while the dissatisfaction is contains many reasons such as not clear, too many words, too simple and so on. For acceptance, visitors think that a more acceptable ratio of 84.4%, 79.3% visitors think the words are easy to understand, It is considered to be more concise survey of tourists was 81.7%, Considered to be more instructive 63.6%, however, there are only 38.6% Visitors think the boards as interesting.(4)the factors which effect the concern of exhibition boards follow in descending order of importance are title attraction, graphics, colors, placement, shapes, text length, material, content.(5) There is significant difference in gaining Knowledge after visiting two forms of exhibition boards, visitor can gain more Knowledge after visiting exhibition boards combine with corresponding plant than not combined. However, there is no significant difference in the aspects of attitude and values of plants.Finally, this paper proposed strategies and suggestion about how to improve the effectiveness of exhibition boards to Wuhan Botanical Garden.
