Objective By anthropometric measure and bioelectrical impedance analysis method in Dongxiang adults of Gansu, to analyze the changing characteristics of body composition in different gender and age groups and ccumulate the body composition data of Dongxiang adults. To analyze prevalence rate of overweight and obesity in Dongxiang adults of Gansu and provide reference for the studies on obesity related diseases in Dongxiang adults. To analyze fat distribution of overweight and obesity in Dongxiang adults of Gansu, tudy preliminarily on the characteristics of fat under different judgment method and provide reference for the health guidance and studies on obesity related diseases in Dongxiang adults.Methods From July 2013 to September 2014,491 cases Dongxiang adults in Dongxiang autonomous county of Gansu Province were selected by cross-sectional stratified random sampling method. Their demographic information, physical parameters and body composition index were collected by questionnaire survey, anthropometric and body composition analyzer, and calculate the percentage of body fat, body mass index, waist to hip ratio, which were grouped according to gender and age and we analyzed by spss19.0 software.Results 1. Non-fat tissue body composition in Dongxiang nationality adults of Gansu were muscle, body fluid, protein and skeletal from high to low by quality. Muscle distribution according to the quality is as follows, trunk muscle mass> double lower limbs muscle weight> double upper limbs muscle mass. Body fat mass according to quality is as follows, the subcutaneous fat content> trunk fat mass> right lower limb fat mass> left lower limb fat mass> left upper limb fat mass> right upper limb fat mass> visceral fat content.2. Non-fat tissue body composition mass in Dongxiang nationality adults of Gansu were higher than in males (P< 0.01). Fat tissue body composition mass in Dongxiang nationality adults of Gansu were higher than in females (P< 0.01), and there was no significant difference in visceral fat mass between male and female (P> 0.05).3. Bone mass and muscle mass showed the same trend in the same gender. It was that one peak of them was in 40 age group in male adults, and they decreased at first and then increased up to peak in 40 age group in female. The protein in male decreased after the peak of 30 age group, and always decreased in female. Trunk muscle mass in male and female decreased after the peaks of 50 age group and 40 age group respectively. Double upper limbs muscle mass and total body water in both decreased after the peaks of 40 age group. Double lower limbs muscle mass in male showed a downward trend except that there was a slight rebound in 40 age group, and always decreased in female. Intracellular water decreased at first and then increased up to peak in 40 age group in both. Extracellular water in male and female decreased slightly after the peaks of 50 age group and 40 age group respectively. With age, visceral fat mass increased constantly in male and female. Subcutaneous and trunk fat mass in male and female showed a rising trend of increasing quickly from 20 age group to 40 age group, decreasing slightly in 50 age group and subsequently rising slowly. Left upper limbs fat mass in female increased constantly, increased quickly from 20 age group to 40 age group and subsequently rising slowly. Left upper limbs fat mass in male showed a rising trend of increasing quickly from 20 age group to 40 age group, decreasing slightly in 50 age group and subsequently rising slowly. Double lower limbs and right upper limbs fat mass decreased after the peaks of 40 age group.4. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was 26.1% and 12.6% respectively, there was no significant difference between the male and female (P> 0.05). The prevalence of abdominal obesity was 60.1%, it was more in females (P< 0.05). The prevalence of obesity by percent body fat was 9.8%, there was no significant difference between the male and female (P> 0.05). All of the prevalence rates of overweight and obesity in males and females had one peak in 40 age group. In the obesity and abdominal obesity, fat mass of all body parts in Dongxiang adults of Gansu were higher than the normal (P< 0.01), and the increased fastest adipose tissue was visceral fat.Conclusion 1. There were gender differences in body composition in Dongxiang adults of Gansu. Non-fat tissue body composition mass were higher than in males. Fat tissue body composition mass were higher than in females except visceral fat mass.2. There were gender differences and non synchronous changes in body composition in Dongxiang adults of Gansu with age. The 50 age group was the time point that the trend of fat in each part changed. Visceral fat content increased continuously and showed no peak.3. The prevalence rate of overweight and obesity in Dongxiang adults of Gansu was respectively lower and higher than the national average, and 40-49 group was high risk age. The fat was easy to accumulate in the abdomen in the obesity and characterized by centripetal obesity.4. Fat distribution of overweight and obesity in Dongxiang adults of Gansu showed unbalanced change. The increased fastest adipose tissue was visceral fat, and the slowest was lower limbs.
