Objective:Body composition refers to the different body composition in total weight of the human body, mainly including body fat rate, body fat, fat weight and muscle mass, bone mass and moisture content in the body, etc.To a certain extent, the composition proportion of body composition reflects the comprehensive influence of many factors, such as:age, gender, ethnic, regional, growth, physical exercise, nutrition level, and economic level, et al. In recent years, along with the rapid development of the human body composition, more and more scholars pay attention to the body composition in China. In different races, the body composition and its distribution may present differences, these differences may affect the health indicators. In this study, we aims to reveal the body compositon of Hui minority population in Nanyang region by using bioelectrical impedance analysis, to accumulate the body composition data of the Hui nationality, in order to establish database of body composition of Hui nationality, and research the characteristics of human body composition of hui nationality. By using two different methods on judgment of Nanyang Hui adult obesity, and compare their differences.Materials and methods:A total of 1263(male 539, female 724) Hui nationality from 18 to 99 years old were chosen in Nanyang region, body composition were measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis. Metal body sitting height height gauge was used to measure the height. The Japanese TANITA company production of MC - 180 type body composition measurement instrument (bioelectrical impedance analysis) was used to determine the body weight, FM,FFM, PBF, bone mass, muscle mass, BMI, body moisture rate and basal metabolic rate, etc. We detect the human"s inferior angle of scapula and the skinfold thickness of the Triceps place by the Mimic human skin plait measuring instrument.We can estimate the human density by the changling formula. the formula[1] of brozek[2] estimate ratio of the human fat. According to Tanita provided standards, measured by skinfold method (brozek formula), male <15%, female<20%, as angular; male 15-20%, female 20-25%, as normal; male 20-25%, female 25-30%, as overweight; male> 25%, female> 30%, as obese. Excel and SPSS 17.0 statistical software were used for statistical data processing, adopt u test comparing the indicators of gender differences, X2 test comparing the incidence of overweight and obese, P< 0.05 as statistically significant difference. Meanwhile, we compared the body composition of Hui nationality to the Han nationality in the 20 to 29 age group. Application of Kappa consistency test, to identify obesity judgment consistency by using skinfold method and bioelectrical impedance analysis of hui nationality adults.Results:1. The mean and standard deviation:The average height of Nanyang region in male and female height were 172.1 cm and 157.3 cm, body weight were 65.6 kg and 58.5 kg, BMI were 22.1 kg/m2 and 23.8 kg/m2, body fat weight were 12.5 kg and 19.7 kg, body fat rate were 18.0% and 32.5%, FFM were 53.2 kg and 39.1 kg, muscle mass were 50.4 kg and 36.9 kg, bone mass were 2.8 kg and 2.3 kg, the moisture inside body ratio were 54.9% and 36.9%, basal metabolic rate were 1551.5 kcal and 1551.5 kcal, respectively.2. The curves of Age:As the growth of the age, height and body moisture ratio in Nanyang region are declining in both male and female, and the decline rate is more in male than female.The peak of weight curve is at 40 to 49 years old both in male and female, then gradually decline, decreased obviously in male than female. Male body weight is higher than female. BMI curve of male shows a trend of fluctuations, at first arise slowly, peak at 40- first, then gradually decline, rising again in 70-; In female, it presents obvious rising trend on the whole, in the 50- after the peak gradually decline, also showed a rise in 70-. The curves no cross phenomenon. The female body fat mass presents an increase trend with age, and reaches a peak in the 50-, then dropping downwards, and increase gradually at 70-. In male, the curve shows a trend of fluctuations, and reaches a peak in the 40-, on the whole is less than female. The curves no cross phenomenon. Body moisture content curve is on the rise both in male and female, and women more than men, curve no cross phenomenon. The curve of lean body weight, muscle mass, bone mass show a similar trend, peak at 30- in male, while at 40- in female. Male is significantly higher than female, curves no cross phenomenon. The body mass index curve of male, First rise then fall downwards, while in female is on the rise as a whole, and the tow curves cross at 40- ages.As the growth of age, height and water content in the body presented a downward trend both in male and female, but they were higher in male than in female. The peak of weight curve is at 40 to 49 years old both in male and female, then gradually decline, decreased obviously in male than female. Body weight in male were higher than female, peak in both male and female at 40- ages, then gradually decline, declined trend were more in male than in female. Body mass index showed a trend of fluctuations in males, first slowly rising peak in 40- age, then gradually decline, in 70- age slightly rise again; In female, with an exception of 60 age, the curve showed obvious rising trend overall, on the whole female was significantly higher than male, the curves crossed in 40-50 ages. Body fat mass and body fat rate of female excepted at 60 age, overall growth increased with age; in male showed fluctuation type, peak at 40 - age, on the whole male showed lower than female, curves showed no cross phenomenon. The curves of FFM, muscle mass, bone mass and basal metabolic rate curves showed basically the same trend, male reached peak when 30- age, female in the 40- age, male were significantly higher than female, curves showed no cross.3. Gender difference:In height, bone mass, muscle mass, FFM, moisture content in the body, basal metabolic rate of male were more than female in all age groups, and have significant difference (P< 0.05) or highly significant difference (P< 0.01). The body fat mass and body fat rate in female were more than male in all age groups, and showed highly significant difference (P< 0.01). With an exception of 70- age group, the weight showed no significant difference between male and female (P> 0.05). The other age groups were higher in male than female, and showed significantly difference (P< 0.01). Body mass index (BMI) in male was higher than female in 20 to 39 age group, and had significant difference (P< 0.05). In 50-70 years old age group, BMI in female were higher than men, with significant difference (P< 0.05).4. Racial differences:To compare the body composition of 20 to 29 age group between Hui and Han Chinese male and female in Nanyang region,found that the height, body weight, body fat rate, body fat mass, FFM, muscle mass, bone mass, BMI, basal metabolic rate, with an exception of moisture content, were higher in Han male than Hui male, but there was no obvious statistical significance difference. In female, height of Han nationality is higher than the Hui. The FFM, muscle mass, bone mass, body moisture content and basal metabolic rate in Han is higher than the Hui nationality, but no statistical significance (P> 0.05). Body fat rate and BMI were significantly higher than the Han nationality (P< 0.05), body weight and body fat mass in the Hui nationality is higher than the Han, but no statistical significance (P> 0.05).5. Overweight and obesity:PBF method was used to determine Hui adult in Nanyang male thin was 8.3%, normal was 55%,over weight was 23.5%, obesity was 13.2%; female thin was 4.2%, normal was 64%, overweight was 20.4%, obesity was 11.4%. The skinfold method (brozek formula) was used to determine, male thin was 0%, normal was 18%, overweight was 60.2%, obesity was 21.8%, female thin was 0.9%, normal was 19.8%, overweight was 59.6%, obesity was 19.7%.the relevance ratio of the Skinfold thickness is higher than the PBF on overweight and obesity. Two detection method for Kappa consistency test, the PBF method and skinfold method for judgement of the Hui nationality adult obesity rate presented low consistency.Conclusion:1.The nanyang region of adult men and women’s body mass index, body fat mass, body fat rate showed increasing trend along with the age growth, height and body water content showed decreasing trend along with the age growth. Body weight, FFM, muscle mass, bone mass, and basic metabolic rate tends presented fist rise then downward.2.The human body composition presented obvious gender differences in Nanyang Hui nationality.3.The difference of body composition in 20 to 29 age group was not significant between Hui and Han in Nanyang region, male and female presented different trend, which need to be further studied4.The rates of overweight and obesity in Nanyang adult Hui nationality were higher both in male and female, need to pay attention to healthy diet and exercise more.5. The relevance ratio of the Skinfold thickness is higher than the PBF on overweight and obesity, The PBF method and skinfold method for judgement of the Hui nationality adult obesity rate presented low consistency.
