With the opening of China’s insurance market,the industry competition is fierce. At the same time, with the rapid growth of the overall industry premium scale, the loss of insurance practitioners is becoming increasingly serious, which has become an urgent problem to be improved.Although each insurance company has its own merits in the process of personnel selection, A company checks at each level in three key links which include interviewing, selection test system and decisive interview, but has been unable to find solutions to the problem fundamentally. In this paper,the author,taking life insurance practitioners of A company as the research object, analyzes and studies personality traits of the outstanding personnel of A company to try to find its inherent law so as to be the reference basis for the design and improvement of the follow-up personnel selection scheme by literature research, interview investigation, questionnaire survey, data analysis and other scientific research methods and means, together with own practical experience in the field of talent evaluation.By in-depth interviews and research with the HR department, the business department of A company including 20 outstanding life insurance practitioners, big five personality questionnaire surveys in 425 life insurance practitioners, and date analysis, conclusions of the study can be drew as follows:1) A company’s life insurance employees demonstrate extraversion, openness, agreeableness, higher conscientiousness, slightly lower neuroticism overall.2) Outstanding life insurance practitioners and ordinary life insurance employees in A company show significant difference in the five dimensions of the big five personality, among which excellent staff performance is lower than that of the ordinary people in the neurotic dimension, but higher in the four dimensions that are extraversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness;3) Excellent life insurance business personnel in A company show significant differences in the two dimensions of extraversion and conscientiousness on sex, but show no significant differences in the big five personality on age, qualification and rank.Based on the research results, the author puts forward the improvement suggestions and implementation strategies for the specific process of the selection of the excellent life insurance practitioners. With the industry environment and the characteristics of enterprise, the author analyzes work structure of the life insurance business personnel, sorts out the ability characteristics and personality requirements of the job to construct position competency model as the standard and basis for personnel selection. By reference to the full-fledged personality test scale, the scale is prepared or revised as a diagnostic tool for personnel selection to improve the level of the reliability and validity of the personnel selection in combination with other means of authenticity check such as interview.
