Job characteristics is the inherent property of work itself, it is one of the important content of organizational or industrial psychology. Overseas have already obtained a certain research results about the theories of job characteristics and correlational researchs. Job characteristics theory in this study comes from job characteristics of Hackman and Oldman's model, which is by far the most widely used model of job characteristics. This paper aims to audit staff as the research objects to explore job characteristics of the auditors, and to discuss the relations of their job characteristics, personality traits and job satisfaction. And in the light of the results of the study on the audit staff and managers to put forward the corresponding proposals.Some researchs have discovered relation of job characteristics, personality characteristics and work satisfaction. But because of different objects and purposes, the conclusions of researchs also have differences. Moreover, researchs about moderating effect of big five personality which operating between job characteristics and job satisfaction are very few. So, the study puts forward research frame based on previous studies.Study were carried out by individual interviews to 15 auditor subjects which come through stratified sampling first. The purpose of interviews is to determine auditor's job characteristics, then revise a questionnaire on this foundation, make the questionnaire to be more target-oriented. Then carry on questionnaire survey to 200 auditors who come from Xi'an and Nanking. The results of study shows:(1)We explicit the compose of auditors' job characteristics by means of interview research. Its job characteristics are:skill variety, task integrity, task significance, autonomy, involves other people, feedback, the growth of work and study, and challenging. This conclusion is based on Hackman and Oldman's job characteristics model theory, through interviews with auditors we confirmation job characteristics model with six dimensions, in addition,we find another two dimension:the growth of work and study, and challenging. So we plus these two dimensions.(2) Auditors demographic information such as age, service year, position, education background, the difference in job characteristics are very significant, marital status is not very significant.(3) The auditors job characteristics and job satisfaction are significantly positively correlated. The results from the research we can see, all job characteristics dimensions of auditors are significantly correlated with job satisfaction in varying degrees. (4) The Big Five personality traits of auditors is significantly related with job satisfaction. Among the Big Five personality factors:neuroticism, extraversion are the biggest correlations with job satisfaction, and they are. the significant forecast source of job satisfaction.(5) There are 4 dimensions among Big five personality:nervousness, openness, agreeableness, responsibility have moderating effect between job characteristics and job satisfaction.
