As one of the pillar industries of the national economy, construction industry is also a high-risk industry, accompanied with frequent accidents, because of its own unique characteristics. It is a very sensitive and complicated problem to pay compensation for the victims who was injured at a construction safety accident.According to read domestic and international literatures and China’s present settlement system of work-related injury, a new query system of work death, which is mainly used in construction industry of Hanan province, will be developed in this paper. By studying the relevant laws and regulations, the theoretical problems that the system may meet when calculating the compensation were solved. And it was demonstrated that this system development is feasible by analyzing from the economic, technology and operation three sides. By analyzing the system’s function, performance, software and hardware requirements, Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 was chose as the main development platform, and Microsoft office Access 2003 was used as the database of the system. In this paper, computing function, automatic judgment function, saves and print function and so on are all designed in the system, and it should meet the practicability, advancement and renew ability requirements too. It was strictly accorded with the design principle of legality, accuracy, simplicity, and reliability, cost-effective when designing the system, and on this basis, the system structure and data flow diagram were draw, the system was divided into three small modules, and at last, the system was developed.At last, the developed system was tested from query types and results, reliability, simplicity to test the system’s integrality, accuracy and fault tolerance, compatibility. It was showed that the system can realize the expected function and performance, and achieve the essential goal that can be well used by all the public.
