Task oriented organization has been widely used to deal with complex and unexpected non-routine tasks. The operation and management of a task oriented organization are centered on the overall task and aim at task accomplishment. Whether the task can be done efficiently determines an organization’s success or failure. The life cycle of task oriented organization is a process including task determination, task operation and task completion. Previous researches neglected the task-oriented property of this organization form, focusing only on its establishment and dissolution, characteristics and development significance, and could not provide an available method to design a task oriented organization, so as to could not provide satisfactory answers to many problems that exist in task oriented organization. The research on task oriented organization design based on TPM will introduce in new directions for organization design research, and present satisfactory solutions to issues irresolvable only based on previous researches. In order to solve existing organization design problems in task oriented organization, TPM is used to make scheduling of tasks, allocate resources and design organizational hierarchy. Based on the present literatures, this article analyses the characters and life cycle of task oriented organization, and points out the key problems need to be solved in different stages of the life cycle. Then, this study establishes models based on TPM to solve problems mentioned above and provides algorithms for them. Finally, a case company is applied to verify the validity of the method and models. The research results indicate that, the application of TPM in the case company could help to shorten the mission completion time, effectively allocate resources and balance workloads among managers of the enterprise. On one hand, this study enriched the research methodology of task-oriented organization and filled up gaps in relative fields. On the other hand, it provided a direction to improve the actual management abilities of task-oriented organization.
