As the social subjects, people’s livelihoods are relative with resource, institution and other factors closely, the change of any factors will affect it. People’s livelihoods has changed in different ways in the process of external environment changes. For the ethnic groups that located at remote areas and lack of resources, the change of institution and environment as well as public awareness of rural culture provides a new opportunity for the transition of people’s livelihoods.Nuodeng is a Bai village that has a good reputation because a documentary named A Bite of China produced by CCTV. Mass media has brought new opportunities to the development of Nuodeng, it’s rich ethnic cultural resources access to the capitalization conditions under the circumstance of mass media. With the development of tourism, the people in Nuodeng who lost salt as their dominant resource before have new source of livelihood. So there is a strong link between the condition of tourism and local people’s livelihoods. This paper focuses on the application status of regional knowledge and local human capital in the process of the capitalization of ethnic culture; In addition, we also noted that the functions of the public cultural products achieved the transformation and upgrading in the case of traditional custom as regulation, and the efforts of government and villagers become the active force of products transformation.But the process of the transition of villagers’livelihoods often accompanied by the game of contradictions and interests of all parties. Local business has been adversely affected by foreign capital. The wealth gap has become even more apparent for the reason that different resources villagers have; In the protection of cultural resources, government and villagers often have different position due to the different interests; Nobody inherits regional knowledge also hinders the sustainability of the capitalization of ethnic culture. All above are the potential obstacles of the capitalization of ethnic culture in Nuodeng village, and those also are the troubles must be addressed.
