Analysis On The Export Competitiveness Of Yunnan Tobacco

The tobacco industry is a controversial industry. On the one hand, pressure from a global tobacco control restricts the development of the industry, on the other hand, the tobacco industry accounted for 6.7 percent of China’s annual tax revenue, far more than oil, telecommunications, electricity and other industries. Tobacco occupies a very important position as the upstream sector of tobacco industry. Tobacco tax is the only agricultural tax after 2006, and it is also an important source of local taxes. In "Twelve Five" period, the tobacco industry paid tax 62.83 billion yuan, average annual increase is 11.5%.The tobacco industry is an important industry in Yunnan Province, Yunnan tobacco industry has a mature management experience, has accumulated abundant capital and technical expertise, the tobacco industry in China has a strong comparative advantage. Yunnan tobacco industry play a very important role in Yunnan GDP and fiscal revenue. The developed Yunnan Tobacco industry is credited to the large-quantity and high-quality tobacco leaf. Yunnan is the largest province of tobacco leaf supply in China.On the whole world, Yunnan is a major producer of tobacco leaf. There are 4.5 million tons tobacco leaf produced annually, the 2.2 million tons of them from China, about half of the world. Volume of tobacco leaf in Yunnan is nearly 900,000 tons, it is more than volume of the second country—Brazil. However, the export of tobacco in Yunnan did not get enough market share, there is a very large gap compared with Brazil and other tobacco exports.In this paper, introduce international trade of Yunnan tobacco leaf, and select market share, Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA) and Trade Competitive Index, from the industrial chain、competitors、customers, etc., using the Michael Porter five forces model, swot and Michael Porter diamond Model to analyze the competition of Yunnan tobacco leaf. And try my best to give some suggestion about it.
