Firstly, this thesis analyses the current situation of energy structure in Jiangsu Province from the perspective of energy balance sheet, energy conversion, energy consumption, energy utilization efficiency, energy production structure, energy supply and demand balance. We find out that the energy structure in Jiangsu Province has the characteristics of high proportion of coal, low energy self-sufficiency rate, contradiction between supply and demand, limited resources per capita, lower energy consumption per unit of GDP and so on. Secondly, this thesis chooses a variety of energy consumption and carbon emissions and pollution control cost data of Jiangsu Province from 1995 to 2013, using EVIEWS 7.0 to perform an GDP and energy consumption regression analysis. Through the study, this thesis comes to an conclusion that there is a strong positive correlation between the province’s energy consumption and economic growth. Then this thesis constructs energy structure optimization model of Jiangsu province based on multi-objective decision-making theory and draws the following conclusions: among the total energy consumption, the proportion of coal and oil consumption will decline gradually while the proportion of natural gas will rise slowly, thus, energy consumption structure is increasingly more reasonable; there is a transition of energy structure from coal-based structure to a more diversified mix; renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, nuclear, tidal energy will play a more significant role. Finally, this thesis proposes the corresponding countermeasures on sustainable energy mix and economic status of the development in Jiangsu Province.
