Land resources are the most fundamental subject of social and economic development, the material guarantee for human survival. However, under the background of current rapid development of the national economy and vigorous promotion of urbanization, industrialization and modernization, the relationship between people and land is becoming increasingly acute, increasing land demand, unreasonable structure and extensive pattern of land-use and other issues are emerging in an endless stream. It is a research topic to be solved urgently to ensure the coordination of economic development and effective supply of land. Therefore, intensive land-use research comes into being under this circumstance, intensive and economical use can promote scientific and rational allocation of land resources, optimization of land structure, economic transformation, effectively alleviation the contradiction between people and land, playing a positive role to build a sustainable development societyEconomic development zone, as the core part of urban, is an important channel of combining different fields such as industry, logistics, trade and other. It can obviously reflect the economic condition and the allocation of land resources of this region. However, now the economic development zone exists many problems, like the low rate of land using degree and economic efficiency, the lagging of industrial development and the increasing number of inefficient land. These problems generate a terrible impact on the development. Thus it is immediate to research on the evaluation of land intensive using. This paper will take Tongxiang economic development zone as a example and do study on the evaluation of land intensive using. In this study, firstly based on the survey data of the situation of land use, using the methods of multi factor and expert experience to determine the evaluation index and establish the index system. Secondly deeply analyzing the condition of the development zone intensive land using and the changes, and estimating the potential of intensive land using through the ArcGis and the Matlab. Then exploring the future about the economic development zone. Finally, according to the analysis results, summarizing the existing problems and putting forward some solutions to solve them from different perspectives, such as policy, economy and so on.Through the investigation of land using and evaluation of intensive land using and calculating the potential in Tongxiang economic development zone, we can draw the conclusion:the development zone has made remarkable achievements, land using structure reasonable basically and generated great economic benefits. But it is hurry to improve the inefficient land using and strengthen the land supply. The degree of comprehensive utilization of the overall intensive is 97.75% and the land use intensity score is 97.88%, then to the main zone and the developing zone the degree about the land intensive efficiency respectively is 99.03% and 87.15%. These numbers mean that the degree about land intensive use is quiet high in recent years, and the economic development zone made some achievements in economy, allocation of land resources and supervision of land use. In the future, Tongxiang economic development zone also exists some potential. There are remain 387.67 hectares in tolerable supply of land and 274.88 hectares in mining warehouse land. But there are still some improvements in building density by increasing the volume rate.By analyzing the results of evaluation, the development zone exists the following problems:the land development rate in main part of zone is relatively low, the intensive degree in developing zone is relatively low, and there is remaining a number of inefficient land. To solve these problems, we have explored some recommendations to promote the land intensive based on the national policy and the local situation.
