With the highly sophisticated of production-based economy and the widespread use of information technology, current economic activity has been from merchandise-oriented to service-oriented, growing by the center of manufacturing into the center of innovation and service. The service economy has become the 21 st century global economy typical characteristics. Service activities no longer limited to traditional service industries, the primary industry and manufacturing of industrial structure increasingly emphasis on service, and even make a transition to the service. In short, the service becomes more and more common, which has the function of creating economic growth and welfare become more and more recognized.In addition, the rise of the knowledge economy on a global scale, heterogeneous knowledge as a valuable resource for gaining access to one of the advantages of innovation,has been widespread concern by the enterprises in an increasingly competitive time. Boundary-spanning search is an act which enterprises search external heterogeneous knowledge from unknown areas across technical or organizational boundaries, and more and more enterprises tend to get different types of heterogeneous knowledge through Boundary-spanning search to be reassembled creative, thus forming a competitive advantage and accelerate business innovation.Based on the above background, how to conduct Boundary-spanning search, Boundary-spanning search how to influence service innovation, the role of knowledge processing capability in Boundary-spanning search impact on service innovation, draws widespread attention by researchers.The passage first to sort out the relevant literature, summarizes concept of the service innovation、Boundary-spanning search、knowledge processing capability, proposes the Boundary-spanning search of user participation knowledge 、Boundary-spanning search of enterprise’s partner knowledge、Boundary-spanning search of cooperation by production, study and research, at the same time divid the knowledge processing capability into the two operable variables(knowledge transformation and knowledge application ability). After establishing the model on the basis of the three main variables relationship, the paper presents nine assumptions, then through large sample survey and using SPSS statistical analysis software to analyze returned samples, we made quantitative verification of the model and the assumptions are all through empirical testing. The empirical results show :(1)the three dimensions of Boundary-spanning search have a significant positive impact on service innovation performance.(2)the two sub-capacity of knowledge processing capability play a positive role in the regulation of Boundary-spanning search positive impact on service innovation performance.The innovation of this paper: first, the paper base on the previous studies, according to the perspective of open innovation, and adding to the regulating variable knowledge processing capability to study the Boundary-spanning search for the influence of enterprise service innovation performance. Second, the division of the Boundary-spanning search three dimensions give clear instruction, also discussed the impact of the three dimensions on service innovation performance. Third, this study demonstrates the service of enterprise knowledge organization ecological map and described the impact of Boundary-spanning search on the improvement of service enterprise innovation knowledge resources and the promotion of open servie innovation performance.
