The concept of design management emerged in 1960s. It has been developed into a research project which has specific content and knowledge. It helps enterprises to develop new products, improve efficiency as well as enhance the brand image. Thus, more and more enterprises pay attention to it. Meanwhile, the success of the design management also determines the fate of the enterprise.This paper presents the concept of closed-loop design management system based on knowledge of the five factors & the seven basic functions of design management and the connotation and characteristics of design management. Closed-loop design management system has seven steps including insight into the design, design definition, prototype design, product design, design conversion, design implementation and product marketing. These seven steps interact with each other and end-to-end to form a closed-loop. I did a real design case of the Samsung air cleaner product design. And the closed-loop design management system is realized with it.Closed-loop design management system has four notable advantages, including advantageous to the enterprise’s brand culture construction, advantageous to the enterprise’s product successful marketing, advantageous to the enterprise design’s innovation development and advantageous to the enterprise internal resources integration. The system has a strong adaptability and practicality, which can be used by many enterprises for internal design process optimization. In my opinion, it is worth for Chinese modern enterprises to deepen the research and take it as reference. |
