Research Joint Venture (RJV for short) is an organizational form of research and development. It has been widely accepted and plays a sizeable role in the U.S., Europe, Japan and other developed countries. At present, however, some foreign and domestic researchers or scholars are studying the internal operating mechanism of RJV, almost nobody studies the sustainability of RJV from the perspective of culture and cross-cultural management.Organizational culture has to be accepted and shared by members of an organization. Different organization has different value and culture. Moreover, they also regard their own culture as the best one. So when two or more cultures contact together, the competition, conflict is appeared. Organizational culture in RJV comes from different system and field. It is multiple. Therefore, it’s inevitable to cause cultural difference and conflict. If RJV does not take any measures when they face to cultural difference and conflict, the cooperation will die on the vine. So it’s an essential problem how to make sure development of RJV through cross-cultural management.This paper regards culture as the research center. It puts cultural differences, cultural conflict and cultural integration as the analytical perspective. It is divided into 6 sections:The first part is introduction. It simply describes the basic thought of this paper.The second part is the literature review of RJV and cross-cultural management.The third part is the cognition of cultural diversity on RJV. It mainly analyzes the subjects, aims to point out that RJV is constituted by many different entities. Therefore, it’s necessary to integrate and manage the different culture for RJVs.The fourth part analyzes the cross-cultural management of RJV through one case.The fifth part comes up with some suggestions and measures of cross-cultural management from inside and outside aspects.The last part is conclusion. It concludes this paper from the whole.
