With the development step of our country economy speeding up, information technology industry is developing at an unprecedented speeding, IT project increased rapidly, especially the constant appearing of the large scale and strong function of IT project. These projects whose construction cycle are long, technique is difficult, investment amount is huge have high structural complexity. The risk of project implementation is large, and the consequences which the risks are out of control are serious. Therefore, it is particularly important for project implementation to manage the IT project risk. But at present the development time our country’s IT industry is short, the IT project risk management is still in the initial stage, the foundation of the theory and practice is weak, the research is not mature.This paper using the method which combines the theory and case based on the previous studies. Firstly, it formulates the related concepts about IT project risk management, and the research development and the current situation in order to take the theoretical foundation for the research; And then it gives a detailed introduction on the risk management process and system of IT projects separately from the theory and practice; Finally it puts forward the system which ensures the implementation of IT project.Thus the main conclusions:the risk management is an important part in the project management, but the application of risk management in the IT industry is far from the level it should achieve, there exists common phenomena, which are the consciousness of risk management in project members, lack of professional project risk service organization, the bad quality of project risk management planning and so on; Risk management can eventually guarantee the success of the project only when the risk management and other segments of the management can support and fuse each other; Risk exists in the whole process of the IT project development, risk management must adjust in time according to risk change, in order to achieve the dynamic virtuous cycle which includes risk identification, risk analysis, risk control and real-time response and ensure project success; IT project risk comes from people mostly, so we must strengthen the management of the human resources of the project and improve the communication mechanism.
