Study On The Development Planning Of Uninhabited Islandsof XiaMen Based On Eco-tourism

In the recent 20 years, eco-tourism, as a new trend in the development of tourism, developed even more rapidly, setting off an upsurge of eco-tourism around the world. As a kind of tourism activity, eco-tourism is based on the primordial environment and tourists’ strong consciousness of environmental protection. It can not only play an ecological education role, but also bring some economic benefits, thus it is considered as an ideal choice for the development of tourism in ecological fragile areas.Under the double influence of nature and human activities, the ecological environment of the uninhabited islands of Xiamen bears a certain degree of damage. At the same time, as an important coastal tourism resources of mature seaside tourism city, the resources on the uninhabited islands of Xiamen are not reasonably utilized. There is growing demand for scientific guidance to the ecological restoration and the use of resources of these uninhabited islands. It is an effective way for these uninhabited islands to realize sustainable development by updating their functions and integrating physical space on the basis of their own and the surrounding urban resources, and developing eco-tourism which can make good use of resources on Xiamen’s uninhabited islands under the premise of ecological protection and form a virtuous cycle.Firstly, this paper studied the literature on eco-tourism and the development of the uninhabited islands, and summarized the experience from the instances of the development of relevant islands. Secondly, with the belief that developing eco-tourism is the breakthrough for these islands to realize sustainable development, data analysis and field investigation of the uninhabited islands of Xiamen were conducted; the background including market, policies and resources of the development of tourism for Xiamen’s uninhabited islands, current situations of physical spaces of these uninhabited islands as well as the existing problems hindering the development of tourism for these islands were also analyzed and summarized. Finally, aiming at the existing problems of these uninhabited islands of Xiamen and under the perspective of eco-tourism development, this paper put forward some developing strategies and ideas; and under the guidance of these above-mentioned developing ideas and strategies and took consider ofthe general planning model can not be targeted, this paper classified these uninhabited islands and targeted made the planning guidance from both ecological planning and travel systemplanning, and further discussed the implementation of the design and planning, hoping to offer practical advice for the development and planning of these uninhabited islands of Xiamen and providing instance and reference for the sustainable development of uninhabited islands in other surrounding mature tourism cities.
