| With the global networking, informationization, industrial restructuring and spatial transferring, and under the background of the large regional inequality between the South and the North in Jiangsu Province, regional space restructuring of China has been not only the national response in the trend of globalization, but also the need of its strategic transformation, even the extremely urgent need of Jiangsu Province. Then the great change in the area of regional space research has happened. According to the above, this paper explors the spatial reconstruction in the level of central city, tried to break the traditional partition method(southern, central and northern Jiangsu) and put forward a scientific and reasonable spatial structure. In order to find the really spatial pattern of Jiangsu Province at present, and give rational advices on making spatial development policies. In this research,18 indicators containing GDP, fixed assets investment volume, total retail sales of consumer goods and the per capita added value of service industry from six aspects(including economy, trade, service, transportation, information, science and opening outside) are selected to build up the evaluation index system of urban centricity, which aims at calculating and analyzing the urban centricity index of 13 cities in Jiangsu Province with entropy method. Then with the help of economic relation intensity and city accessibility, the paper made a comprehensive comparison among 13 cities in Jiangsu Province. The results show that:(1) In the view of the regional center, the urban flow intensity, the location entropy and the external function are a reflection of the degree of city’s external relationship among cities, the greater the value is, the more professional the regional sector is, and the stronger the regional radiation is, the closer the external relationship will be, and vice versa. Suzhou and Nanjing are the economic center of centralization and diffusion in Jiangsu Province. And due to the analysis to its structure, we find that urban flow intensity is mainly affected by the city’s economic strength and comprehensive service ability of a city. In addition, through the analysis of the urban centricity, we can find that the development of secondary industry and tertiary industry are the major factor affecting the urban centricity, and the comprehensive score of Sunan is far better than that of Subei, and the urban centricity of Subei is less significant than that of Sunan, and the development of the cities are lack of power driving from the strong central city. Meanwhile the urban centricity mainly performs the centricity of economy, trade, transportation and information, and that of Sunan is better than that of Suzhong, and that of Suzhong is better than that of Subei. Each city has its advantage.(2) In the view of the regional connection, the pattern of economic connection among the cities shows that of Sunan is higher than Suzhong, and Suzhong is higher than Subei. Membership of all cities choose Wuxi, Suzhou and Nanjing as its preferred city. With the distance-decay regularity, city accessibility is related to the regional location. And the distribution pattern shows the declining from the core with Yangzhou, Taizhou, and Zhenjiang to the periphery region.(3) The 13 cities of Jiangsu province can be regrouped into four major sub-regions. They are Su-Xi-Chang-Tong area, which is composed of Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Nantong, Ning-Zhen-Yang-Tai area, which is composed of Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, and Taizhou, Xu-Su-Lian area and Yan-Huai area. Among the areas above, Suzhou, Nanjing, Xuzhou and Yancheng are the regional central cities. However, the rationality of evaluation index system, scientific nature of reconstruction and its consequences need a further research and exploration. |
