Empirical Research On The Relationship Between Regional Financial Development And Regional Economic Growth In Jiangsu

The relationship between Financial Development and Economic Growth has been the focus of some research scholars. Along with the problem of regional imbalance in China highlights, some researchers began to turn the study perspective from the national level to regional level, attempting to put regional financial as an independent considerations into the study of the uneven development of regional economy. As a typical case and microcosm of unbalanced regional development in China, it has a strong theoretical and practical significance to study the difference of the regional economic and financial developments in Jiangsu, including reducing regional disparities and promoting the coordinated development of economy and finance.This paper built on the basis of analyzing the theory of financial development, regional finance theory, and the mechanism and the relationship between regional finance and regional economy, combined the actual situation of the regional finance and regional economy development, and made empirical studies on the relationship between the both, through time series analysis method such as Cointegration Test and Granger Causality Test, etc. The empirical results show that: The relationship between the regional finance and regional economy in Jiangsu has long-term and balanced stability; and the regional finance development plays a significant role in promoting the regional economy growth on the overall; Regional differences in financial development in Jiangsu is the salient features in the process of regional development; Differences in financial deepening, market development process and regional environment are the underlying causes to form the wide gap between regional financial and economic development.To be able to promote the further coordinating long-term development of the regional financial and regional economy, on the basis of analyzing the results of the relevant theoretical and empirical, from the regional level and the overall level of Jiangsu we put forward the corresponding policy proposals, including implementing difference, regional economic and financial policies, strengthening policy coordination efforts in the region and beyond and establishing a comprehensive, multi-layer financial market system and so on.
