Since reforming and opening, China’s developing economy creates great e nvironment for the family business., and the family business has already become an important part of national economy and has play an irreplaceable role in the respects of promoting employment, swimming market, stimulating investment, increasing taxes, expanding exports. However, due to the lack of effective incentive mechanism, there are many problems in the family business, such as the serious phenomenon of creating “a jobs for th e boys”system, the poor communication between members, the unhealthy incentive mechanism, the wrong company culture and so on. These pr oblems lead to the high employee turnover rate, the weak talent competitiveness of enterprise, even facing the dilemma of bankruptcy. Therefore, how to starting from the actual situation of the family business, how using a combined regimen of the human resources management incentive theory and the relevant theories of family enterprises, how to making a deep research on the status,problems and causes of incentive mechanism and how to putting forward to improve the incentive mechanism of hum an resources m anagement of fam ily business have become an important topic to solutethe dilemma of development of the family business.This paper firstly organizes literature from two aspects and defines the connotation of the family business, the incentive, the incentive mechanism on the basis of incentive theories.Secondly, based on the example of Quanzhou S family business, this paper analyzes the present situation of incentive mechanism, and evaluate the effect of the operation. Thirdly, this paper deeply analyzes the problems and causes existing in the incentive mechanism of human resources management of the Quanzhou S family business. The main problems existing in the incentive mechanism of Quanz hou S fam ily business are the tight material incentives, the incomplete spiritual incentive, lack of effective incentive mechanism, the wrong company culture and the ignorance of internal function of work motivation. The causes are the restriction of the development of enterprise scale, the weak concept of human resource management, the poor understanding of diversity demands of employees, the negative influence of management mode and the poor communication bridge. Finally, in view of the problems of incentive mechanism, according to the incentive theories, this paper puts forward the perfect suggestions to improving the incentive mechanism of human resources management of Q uanzhou S fam ily business. There are five means to improve the incentive mechanism: it can construct reasonable salary and welfare incentives to meet the basic demands of staff; it can construct perfect training, promotion and honor incentives to meet the higher demands of staff; it can establish a scientific performance appraisal system to guarantee the implementation of incentive measures; it can build a“people-oriented” enterprise culture to enhance the sense of identity and belonging of staff; it can make job design and career to let work motivation more effective.
