Any slight negligence of the new product’s development and positioning of an enterprise will produce additional supply chain management costs. As the automotive industries whose new products need a quick update which will greatly shorten the product’s life cycle, if the automotive industries are able to satisfy the needs of downstream orders with high efficiency, low cost and high quality services, they can improve their structure of products to be modular and generalized and meanwhile they can postpone the time of forming the products by the form of modular assembly so that they can customize a variety of products which can meet various customers, reduce or even eliminate all the risks which are accumulated by prediction of every stage of supply chain, satisfy customers’ personalized needs, and project on a large scale.According to the paper, I analyze the enterprises’ needs from an overall perspective of supply chain through the research and study of documents of postponement theory, aiming at the trend of SQ Group’s dual-brand strategy development for the common platform. Meanwhile, I focus more on the research of advanced design phase of the products. Combining the postponement strategy and CODP theoretical studies, I hold that supply chain management costs will efficiently reduce by improving the generalization and modularization of the shock absorber and the spring of the chassis, which is based on conforming to the vehicles’ handling and comfort. Then, I classify the cost models of Chassis supply chain postponement into two stages, one of which is generalized production and the other of which is customized production and these two stages are separately related with M/D/1 model and M/M/1 model. I evaluate the optimal solution to the total cost model by using the generalized rate θ which is as CODP(Customer Order Postponement Decoupling Point). According to the optimal consequence of calculation, I set CODP in the location of the production process of shock absorber-spring, whose θ=0.86. And at this point, the occupation of time of products’ generalized production is close to 70% and I can realize the differentiated Customization by controlling the number of various valves and the selection and combination of valves which are in the shock absorber and by coordinating to sub-package the different springs which have different parameters. This kind of technical means is verified to make the generalized rate, inventory cost and etc., which are the essential economic benefit indexes improved significantly. All the factors I mentioned above are to verify the most suitable position to intervene of the postponement strategy, and to provide a preferred embodiment of the postponement idea for enterprises.
