Rural issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmer are major issues of China’s economic development and social progress. And the core of rural issues is the issues of rural resident’s income. As rural resident’s income increases, the income gap between urban and rural residents widens, as well as the issues concerning rural resident’s income gap highlights. It analyses the changes of China’s household business income, wage income, property income and transfer income and its internal income gap on the basis of international and domestic scholars’research on rural resident’s income growth and income gap. In addition, it verifies and analyzes the growth effect from income structure changes. Rural resident’s income gap not only includes internal income gap, but also regional income gap. Therefore, this article applies the Gini coefficient decomposition method to empirical analysis on rural resident’s income gap among provinces in our country, thus getting contribution rates of income of relevant years to Gini coefficient. This paper finds that only household business income shrinks rural resident’s income gap among provinces, and the other three kinds of incomes do the reverse. Finally, this article puts forward policy suggestions according to the factors that restrict rural resident’s income growth and lead to the widening of income gap.
