Comparisons Of Studies On Business History In China And Japan

Business History, as an important field of study in the academic circles, is regard as a branch of Economic History in China. While in Japan, Business History mostly covers studies on the history of business management. Researches in Chinese Economic History which provides opportunities for academic communication on studies on Chinese Business History, is an academic journal specialized for Chinese Economic History. After reviewing theories, methodologies, research subjects and research focuses on Business History in Researches in Chinese Economic History (1986-2010), it is concluded that the period from 1986 to 2010 has witnessed the transformation of Chinese Business History from Industrial History to Business History. Japanese Research in Business History, as the academic journal for studies on Japan Management History, is published by Japan Management History Association which is founded in 1964. The review of the studies on Management History in Japanese Research in Business History from 1986-2010 facilitates the understanding of Japan Management History.This paper is to conduct a comparative study on the theories, methodologies, and research subjects on Business History in both journals. The aim of this paper is to explore the features, similarities and differences of the studies on Business History in both countries. This result of this paper can be taken as a reference for further research.
