Mechanism Study Of Export’s Influence On Innovation

At this stage of economic development, Chinese companies need make a breakthrough from imitation to innovation. It is urgent for Chinese companies to improve their technology and international competitive advantage. More and more theoretical research has proved that international trade is one of the important channels for international technology flow, but the study of the relation between export trade and innovation is imperfect. Furthermore, most of the studies on this subject are based on the study of the single effect, lacking the research discussion from mechanism perspective. Based on the industrial perspective, this paper selects high technology industry as the research object. This paper enrich the research relating to international trade and innovation, and it will be helpful to better understand the importance of export for the innovation.This paper summarizes the existing related literature first, reviews the theory about international trade and innovation, and then discuss how export influence the innovation. It is useful to better understand the research current situation and know more about the research methods relating this matter. What’s more, based on the related research review and related theoretical basis, the paper talk about the mechanism of how export influences the innovation, and points out that all kinds of effect happened in different stages of the industrial innovation to promote innovation. After that, this paper analyze the current situation of high technology industry. Furthermore, this paper analyzes how export influence the innovation using the panel data from 2003 to 2012, founding that export has a positive effect on innovation in Chinese high technology industry. This empirical research shows that scale economies effect and competition effect is the most important way for export influence innovation. Compared with the two effects, the horizontal spillover effect have a negative effect on technological innovation. Finally, based on the above theory and empirical research, this paper put forward a series of suggestions from multiple perspectives and talk about what’s more need to be studied.
