| Low Carbon Economy is advocating low power consumption, low pollution and low emission. In the context of low carbon development becoming the mainstream trend, as important source of carbon emission, the power sector is taking up the task of energy conservation. In order to develop low-carbon electricity, China needs to reduce carbon emission using complete set of effective scientific management methods based on low carbon and smart grid technology. As means of power grid intelligent interaction with user, demand response(DR) can reduce the intermittent volatility of renewable power integration, solve problems of system reserve capacity shortage and reduce coal consumption. Therefore, DR has become an effective measure of China’s development of low carbon electricity. It is practicalily significant and urgent for DR implementation and DR benefits research, particularly the assessment of emissions benefits, which will make everyone realize the whole effectiveness of DR. Thus, more scientific measures for DR can be developed.This paper uesd system dynamics and Vensim to evaluate benefits of DR in the context of low-carbon development. Firstly, concepts of electricity demand response and low-carbon electricity system were researched. The DR Principles of Economics, cost-effectiveness, implementation status quo were introduced emphatically. And impacts of DR on low carbon power development were analyzed from aspect of technological approaches. Secondly, performance evaluation index system was built baesd on formation mechanism and classification of DR. The hierarchies of metrics and system dynamics method through comparison of various methods were also determined. Thirdly, DR benefits assessment model was built from user benefits, power grid enterprise benefits, government benefits and low carbon energy benefits. What’s more, stock flow charts and main equations of five subsystems were determined. Finally, this study targeted a region which owned a large number of industrial and commercial users and suited for DR implementation, and calculated DR comprehensive benefits of ten years.The results showed that the implementation of DR brought comprehensive benefits significantly, which would make DR stakeholders recognize specific benefits. Then DR will be supported by the user side, the generation side and social parties and research and implementation processes will be promoted. |
