Although the steel industry has become a low-profit industry nowadays, the competition becomes increasingly fierce. The rapid development of the steel industry cannot survive without the strong support of iron ore sintering technology. The major strategy to win for steel companies in the competition is to reduce costs, improve technology, develop and seize new markets. Many companies wish that they can improve the sinter quality and reduce the production costs to with Lean Six Sigma.Combining with the current situation of Lean Six Sigma in M steelmakers, it elaborated on the application of the five stages of Six Sigma(define, measure, analyze, improve and control) in the sintering production using DMAIC model and its relevant tools first, then analyzed and summarized the improved results systematically, and the specific operational measures were proposed at last. Firstly, the necessity and feasibility of the implementation of Lean Six Sigma for M Enterprises; Secondly, it determined the sintering improvement projects according to the needs of customers’, and the key improvement factors combing with causal matrix analysis after the reliability analysis of the measurement systems; And at last, it determined the optimal ratio of raw materials by DOE method, the optimal operating parameters with principal component analysis and cluster analysis, and it develop standards for each operation in the control phase.Using the first Iron Plant of M steelmakers as a platform in this paper, and the theory is applied directly to the sintering process after the comprehensive understanding of Lean Six Sigma management and sintering production process. The quality of enterprise management level enhanced, the production costs reduced, the product quality has been improved greatly and the core competitiveness of enterprises enhanced to a greater extent after the application of Lean Six Sigma in the sintering production in ironworks. In the meanwhile, it plays a good incentive effect for employees to work wholeheartedly. In addition, the study can provide some reference and guidance for other related businesses to implement Lean Six Sigma in their company.
