As a small sized enterprise which is embracing a rapid growth. KM Company now is challenged by its performance management problems. Troubled by the growing staff turnover, the company is aware of the importance of performance management.Having presented the performance management theories, the author clarified that the performance management system is an organic integration which is comprises of five subsystems:performance management planning, performance instructing&implementing, performance evaluating, performance feedback and performance implementation.Armed with the summer intern experience in KM company, coupled with the questionnaire survey, the author diagnosed the company’s performance management system.Due to a poor recognition, neither the performance management system is guided by the enterprise strategy, nor is framed in a scientific way.In order to solve the performance management problem, the author put it forward that it is crucial to establish the performance management system in a systematic way, under the guidance of the enterprise strategy. As regard to the performance management planning, the author also put forward the framework of the performance management regulations and processes.Only those enterprises which has well prepared can successfully set up a performance management system. The author proposed several steps to put into practice the new performance management system.In the last section, there is a series of criteria of evaluating an effective performance management system. Strengthens and weaknesses of this paper are also be concluded.
