With the sustained and rapid development of Chinese economy, the car hasbeen extremely popular in the lives of ordinary people. People’s understanding aboutcars is becoming more and more mature. The attention is also gradually from theappearance, price to quality, safety and so on. Currently the world’s majorautomotive giant has started to complete the layout in China. The nationalautomobile enterprise also obtained the development and the strength. Competitionin the domestic auto market is fierce.How to stand in the cruel market competitionand lead the market, a very important point is that under the premise of qualityensurance, adapt to the market demand and launch the new products rapidly."Purchasing-part product readiness" is an important term in the field ofautomobile manufacturing, it refers that the OEMs make the contract with the partssuppliers and the parts suppliers start the mold manufacturing, equipment purchasing,personnel training and samples production according to the contract. Before theseries production, parts suppliers also carry out laboratory testing and pre-seriesproduction and other work in order to meet the requirement of series production."purchasing-part product readiness" is an important part of the development andlaunch of a new vehicle of the OEMs and it largely influences the launch speed of anew vehicle and affects the OEM’s market competition position。"Management of purchasing-part product readiness stage " is standing in theangle of the OEMs. The OEMs and suppliers integrate the human resource, material resource and other resources to start the production preparation in accordance withthe established goals smoothly.Faw-vw company is an excellent Sino-German automobile joint venture. Sinceits establishment in1991, the enterprise achieved a rapid growth. In order to meetthe requirements of the market development exterior and the system constructioninterior, Faw-vw set up Product Readiness department in2008which is mainly incharge of the job for purchasing-part product readiness. PR department learned andadopted the process and mold of the German parent company and achieved goodresults. At the same time, along with the detailed and thorough work, many problemsare exposed, including the Faw-vw company "s own problems, the supplier problemsand progress control, quality optimization and so on.This article first introduces Faw-vw company and the current managementstatus of the purchasing-part product readiness, including the main work contentsand the way of management. And then it points out the main problems at presentstage. These problems are involved in Faw-vw itself, the supplier, and in the processof project management. Aiming at these problems, this paper carried out athoroughly discussion and analyse the reasons for their existence. Finally, based onthe Faw-vw’s actual situation and the existing system, this article proposes themethod to solve the problem of product readiness management, including theoptimization of the existing scheme and the study of the new scheme.This paper conducted in-depth analysis and discussion on the existing problemsin the product readiness management of Faw-vw company, and proposes theimprovement measure and the direction to solve the problem. The resolving of therelated problems can help Faw-vw shorten product readiness period ofpurchasing-part, to reduce the risk of product readiness, to accelerate the speed ofvehicle updating, and to greatly consolidate the leading market position of Faw-vwcompany.
