Energy Efficiency And Its Influencing Factors In Shanxi Province

Along with the rapid development of economy and the deepening of reform and openingup, the problems of energy and environment are becoming increasingly serious. As a majorcoal producing province, Shanxi has abundant coal resources and it’s relatively extensive inenergy use, so there are a series of energy waste and environmental pollution problems.Therefore, this article intends to analyze the current energy efficiency level in ShanxiProvince, And to explore the influencing factors of energy efficiency in Shanxi Province, inorder to improve scientific basis for Shanxi Province to improve energy efficiency and theenvironment pollution.In this paper, efficiency is subdivided into energy economic efficiency, energyenvironmental efficiency and comprehensive energy efficiency based on the conceptualframework of total factor energy, using super efficiency DEA model, combined with data often provinces (cities, districts) including Shanxi Province from2000to2013and data ofeleven cities in Shanxi province from2005to2013to calculate the efficiency.Through external comparison with other provinces (cities, districts) of Six provinces incentral and five provinces (city, district) in North China five provinces (city, district), findingthat for Shanxi Province, the average of energy economic efficiency value is the lowest, theaverage of comprehensive energy efficiency value is the second lowest, and the average ofenergy environmental efficiency is in the middle level. Through internal comparison ofeleven cities in Shanxi Province，finding that the energy economic efficiency of Linfen,Jinzhong and Lvliang did not meet the technical efficiency, and Lvliang is the lowest with themean value less than0.7; Only the energy environmental efficiency ofYangquan, Shuozhou and Xinzhou have reached the technical efficiency, the averageefficiency of other cities are relatively low; Analyzing form the Comprehensiveenergy efficiency, only Taiyuan, Changzhi, Linfen, Jinzhong and Lvliang did not achieve the technical efficiency, and Lvliang still ranked at the bottom with the mean value less than0.7. So, this paper analyzed the factors affecting the energy efficiency of Shanxi province byusing the method of multiple regression analysis, and finding that energy endowment, thetertiary industry development level, energy consumption structure, and the structure ofproperty rights restrict its energy efficiency level of ascension; the second industrydevelopment level, the government influence, the tertiary industry investment, energy pricesand opening degree promote the level of energy efficiency in Shanxi Province.
