An Impirical Study Of Influencing Factors Of China's Energy Efficiency

The development of our country's economics is facing with the stress of energy resources restriction and environmental pollution.Studying the influencing factors of energy efficiency can relax the contradiction of energy supply and consumption, improve the environmental situation.This paper analysed the present situation of our country's energy efficiency from the view of nation,area and international.The results showed that our country's energy efficiency had improved greatly since applying the policy of reform and opening-up,but from the view of high energy consumption products,we can draw the conclusion that our country's energy efficiency is lower than advanced countries.The result of decomposition of energy consumption per unit of GDP is that industrial structure,inside structural change of industry,energy efficieny change of sectors had important impacts on energy efficiency. Key factors such as technical advancement, industrial structure, energy structure, energy price and opening to the outside world had different influencing mechanisms to energy efficiency.On the foundation of theoretic analysis,this paper gathered the pertinent datas of 28 provinces and cities(Tibet and Hainan are not included;the datas of Chongqing are merged into Sichuan province),constructed panel data model of influencing factors of energy efficiency.Taking all kinds of factors that influencing energy efficiency,this paper studyed the influencing factors in an all-round way.The results showed that our country's energy structure-large part of energy consumption is coal had a negetive impact on energy efficiency.Energy price also had a negetive impact on energy efficiency.Together with FDI,imports and exports had positive impacts on energy intensity.The second industry proportion had a negetive impact on energy efficiency,at the same time,the third industry proportion had a positive impact.Science and education had a positive impact on energy efficiency.Economic development situation didn't have straight imapct on energy intensity,there is no linkage between ecnonmic development and energy efficiency.Fixed asset investment proportion has a positive effect.It can cause energy efficiency change in the similar direction.Government policy had a negetive impact.It can cause energy efficiency change in the opposite direction.Thus, in order to improve energy efficiency, we should change the pattern of ecnonmic growth, deepen the reform of energy price,which should reflect the degree of resources scarcity,supply and demand situation,environmental cost.We also should reduce the influence of government to energy market and expand the development of the third industry,increase the expenditure of science and technology,encourage imports and exports and introduce into foreign trade.
