The increasing development of modern agriculture demands more advancedknowledge and techniques from farmers. Therefore, enhancing the quality of farmers isbecoming a key point to issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers.Nowadays, increasing training for farmers and raising the quality of farmers arebecoming necessity of promoting rural economy and social stability and narrowing thegap between urban and rural areas. However, farmer training in our country is still in itsinitial stage, and we don’t have a perfect training system yet and we haven’t put greatemphasis on effect evaluation, thus our farmer training can not always achieve a goodresult. Based on the above, this paper is to survey farmer training in city A, and analyzethe shortcomings and the causes, and then raise some solutions in order to enhancefarmer training effect in city A.Firstly, this paper organizes the theory of effect evaluation of farmer training byreviewing related literature. Then, on the basis of Kirkpatrick’s theory, it analyzes theprepared questionnaire for the farmers under training in city A, and we can get the mainproblems existing in the process of framer training. The training content is not practicaland the arrangement is not reasonable according to trainees’ reaction. For farmers, theydon’t have the enthusiasm for learning and they don’t set objectives for themselves. Asfor employers, they aren’t satisfied with the training result. Secondly, the papercontinues to analyze the reasons of these problems existing in farmer training. Thetraining is not always well-organized and the content is not well-designed. Farmers arenot highly-motivated and sometimes they are lacking in capability. Besides, themigration motive of labor force is not very strong. After that, the paper puts forwardssome suggestions on above problems. As for training organizers, they should providereasonable training content. As for the training centers, they should be well-equipped torender excellent service to farmers. As for farmers, they need to realize the importance of training and improve their willingness, thus they can improve themselves throughtraining. Finally, the paper reviews the main content and concludes the characteristicsand disadvantages.
