Arable land is the basis for human’s survival and development, it is essential to ensure national food security and society stability. In recent years, a large amount of arable land has been occupied with the development of economy and society,Mass reduction of arable land makes a big challenge to our food security and becomes an important factor affecting China’s economic and social sustainable development., Therefore, Research in landscape of arable land has great significance, in order to understand the status and variation of arable land, analyze its evolution pattern and variation reason.Based on the landscape temporal-spatial variation analysis, combining multiple aspects including arable land amount, spatial layout, landscape pattern and supporting facilities, this thesis proposed landscape temporal-spatial variation analysis index systems of arable land of two scales, using Changzhou city and its Jintan County as study areas. The main research contents are as follows:(1) Synthetical considering the need of the natural quality, current situation, change characteristic of arable and major industries, this paper constructs an integration indicator system which comprises of the quantitymount, spatial distribution, landscape pattern, and other supporting facilities from city and county scale, providing a technical support for spatio-temporal analysis on landscape pattern of arable land。(2)On the basis of city-scale arable land indicator system, this paper studies the spatio-temporal change of arable land of Changzhou during2004and2011, and analyses the current situation and changes of arable land of Changzhou, from the three points of quantity, spatial distribution and landscape pattern. First,Changzhou arable land (2011) accounted for about one-third of the total land area, mainly in Liyang city, Wujin district and Jintan city from the point of quantity. According to the change rate of arable land, the change of arable land in Changzhou can be divided into three stages:rapid decrease between2004and2005, intermediate decrease between2005and slow decrease between2009and2011. Second. In spatial distribution, most arable land of Changzhou located in low altitude, relative flat regions, and about90percent of arable land distributes on below60m of altitude and less than6degree slope. In each slope aspect, arable land distributes uniformly and reduces to varying degrees in different elevations, different slope and aspect over time. During2004and2011, the elevation of about90percent of arable land increased from19m to22m and the slope of the same amount increased from3.2degree to3.5degree. It is shows that the distribution of arable land’s elevation is overall increasing higher, and slope is growing larger,The overall change of arable land area is to decrease first, then to increase and to decrease finally. The gravity of arable land of Changzhou was found to migrate to southeastward. On the landscape pattern, the degree of continuous integrated by the index of concentration and combination degree and the degree of fragmentation integrated by the patch density and shape fragmentation, has declined over time, but still concentrated contiguous in overall.(3)On the basis of county scale indicator system, taking Jintan county of Chang zhou as a study area,This paper analysis the spatio-temporal change of Jintan arable land during2004and2012from the four aspects:quantity, spatial distribution, landscape pattern and land facilities, the Analysis revealed the variation of arable land of Jintan county.the result indicates quantity of arable of Jintan is mainly distributed in Jincheng town、Xuebu town, and in the composition of arable land, Paddy is accounted for82%of the proportion, and the distribution of dry land and Paddy is significantly different; From the distribution of space, arable land is mainly concentrated in low elevation and smaller slope, As time goes backwards, the arable land is basically showing a decrease after the first increase and then decrease, and finally a trend of unchanged on different elevation, slope, and aspect.during this process, the distribution center of gravity is shifted to northwest; On the landscape pattern, the contiguous degrees of arable land has decreased, the fragmentation degree is relative increased, and the whole landscape is still in gathering status, and in different areas of the township, landscape of facilities is significantly different, Over time, the arable facilities of Jintan have been greatly improved, It is Mainly reflected in the following aspects:the average density of ditches, ponds and road inside arable land is increased Overall, and the shortest distance from arable land to the surrounding villages is smaller. The research analysis the arable land’s landscape and temporal change of Changzhou city and Jintan county from multiple perspectives including quantity, spatial distribution, landscape pattern and supporting facilities of arable land, it analysis of the current situation and changes of arable land from two scales, and the result reveals the spatial and temporal variation of arable land of Changzhou and Jintan, and provides a reference and basis for regional land use decisions.
