The banking industry is a high risk industry. Prevention and management of risks is thework that is of promount importance during the development of banking industry. Realizinghealthy and sustainable operation of financial institutions, at the same time, reducing theircapital cost for risk prevention and then improving their competitiveness must depend onimplementing scientific and strict risk-precaution system as well as taking practicle andeffective risk-management tools.Operational risk has become one of the main risks faced by commercial banks.Strengthening management and control of the operational risks is an indispensable work thatguarantees the commercial banks to avoid risk effectively and improve professional skill.Therefore, constructing and perfecting constantly management system against the operationalrisk of commercial banks has become an urgent subject that need studying and solving.This thesis, based on the practical experiences in western countries, took Shenyangbranch of ZG bank as an example and studied its status quo of the operational riskmanagement by the method of investigation as well as found out existing problems inpresent stage. Further, the causes of occurrence of the problems were analyzed and theimprovement countermeasures were put forward that make syetem, tools and staff into anorganic connection. The first part is the introduction.This part includes research purpose,research significance, domestic and foreign research review, research contents, researchmethods and innovation points. The second part introduces the definition of operational riskconcept and related theories. The third part sums up the experiences of operation riskmanagement in western joint-stock commercial banks, including the survey and frame ofoperational risk management and introduced Holland bank operational risk management as acase. The fourth part mainly studies the problems of operational risk management with ZGbank Shenyang branch according to operational risk loss events of ZG bank Shenyang branchand discusses the related reasons.The fifth part presents the countermeasures to improve theoperational risk management of Shenyang branch of ZG Bank. It aims at emphasizing the roleof people in the operational risk management, improving internal control process andstrengthening staff training of branch operations.
