Manufacturing enterprises’ competitive are increasing rapidly, the goal ofenterprises development is pursuing higher profits. Now, some methods of increasingprofits have been unavailable, such as reducing labor costs and raw material costs, but asthe third profit source of enterprises, logistics has been more and more paid to attention.Currently the logistics costs of manufacturing has been in a high state, thus reducing thecost of manufacturing production in logistics, especially the important part of the cost inmaterial handling system, is an effective way to obtain higher profits. This paper basic onthe actual situation of the enterprise’s material handling, aimed at improving themanufacturing transfer and material handling processes under the ERP environment. Toachieve the purpose of optimizing the material handling by designing material handlinginformation systems. The main work and procedures are as followed:(1) Analyze the current status of manufacturing material handling, provides the basisfor the material handling information system design;(2) Material handling process is analyzed and optimized using Flexsim simulationsoftware, provide reliable demand analysis for the design of the information system(3) Design and carry out the information systems for material handling, includingrequirements analysis, software development and related technology, designing of relatedmodules and so on.(4) Application in information systems and handling equipment, optimizing materialhandling processes, as well as the information transmit with ERP system.This study focuses on designing material handling information system, simulation onoptimization of existing material handling process and put forward feasible measures. Paymore attention to study handling process and improve the efficiency of handling equipmentand other aspects, then design the material handling information system that fit forenterprise’s situation. The paper has much practical value and guideline.
