After the 1990 s, the modern logistics industry integrating the efficient management and operation of transportation, storage, sorting, packaging, distribution processing and many other logistics activities has made great progress, and reach a new attitude. With the increasing globalization of the world economy, the close connection of economies and the rapid rise of e-commerce, airport logistics plays an increasingly important role in modern economic exchanges. The application of air cargo handling system in air cargo terminal, which is the core of airport logistics, has become a vital part in the construction of the airport. The modern air cargo handling system can handle the air cargo efficiently, reduce the loading and unloading time, increase the flight time directly, thus improve the efficiency and capacity of transportation, reduce the production cost, maximize the economic and social benefits. By analyzing the operation characteristics of the air cargo handling system, taking the domestic ZX airport for example, this thesis studies the elements affecting the cargo handling efficiency and makes an optimal design for the system plan considering the objective conditions, thus put forward alternative solutions for customers. What’s more, the thesis studies the operation cycle, the operation efficiency and the operation characteristics of ETV which is the core equipment of the air cargo handling system. Through corresponding innovation to the horizontal driving system of dual-track ETV, the dual-wheel drive mode can be improved to the four-wheel drive mode with the reliability increased 300%, thus decreasing the back-up running quantity and reducing the probability that the running malfunction leads to the breaking off of the cargo handling efficiently. As for the vertical lift to ETV, the single high-power motor lifting mode can be improved to the dual low-power motor lifting mode, with the system reliability increased 100% and the energy consumption reduced 35%.
