Thanks to the economy development of our country and improvely expandation of the foreign trade, and the extensinve use of the container in the transportation, port handling capability of our country has been increased for a long time, container ships are becoming bigger and bigger; present port handling capability is the limit of the production of the port. At present, major ports are set off a new round of port construction craze, the further reasonable optimization and the utilization of existing resources to improve the port's container handling capacity and logistics system have also under research and practice. In addition, The development of shipping technology has also brought large-scale ships. Therefore, the rational planning and design of container terminals and container ports, and the continuously improvement of the management of automatic warehouse system technology has become the first problem which must be solved by the port designers and operators at present.In chapter 1, based on the researches done by the predecessors, container yard to the ports were introduced, as well as the analysis of the future port container yard needed. Description of application of the three-dimensional automated warehouse system technology in the port container terminal is discussed in chapter 2. Overall system planning and design are introduced in chapter 3. In chapter 4, we focuse on several programs to establish a simulation Flexsim model and the parameter details of the model. In chapter 5, we firstly take the data analysis, and utilization of warehouse equipments and operating efficiency, then we describe the strengths and weaknesses of automated container system and the application on the ports. Finally, a summary of this article is made, as well as in the following issues which need further study.The most important point of this paper is the application of the AS/RS technique, along with the design of the automatic container handling system and the 3-dimensional model simulation. After the 3D model is established, the data analysis is introduced. And ultimatly, the strength and weakness between the automatic container handling system and the traditional container terminal are compared according to the data analysed ahead.As the key point of improving competitiveness of enterprises and the potential market, automated warehouse is an important component of a modern logistics system, and is extensively use in all fields of life, which attached much attentions of the enterprises, institutes and colleges.
