Since the Chinese grain purchasing market has opened to the world in2004, beside thecomprehensive reform of the grain circulation system, the big four international food dealer have startedtheir penetration in the Chinese market and the competition in china became unprecedented fierce.Depending on their integrated marketing network and brand advantages, the big four international fooddealer controlled a large share of grain and oil market in China. During the competition, state-ownedenterprises in china also embraced a tremendous growth. But there were still a lot of difficulties andproblems in the development of state-owned companies, such as the low return on sales, the simple andcrude production equipment, the poor ability to resist risk, the weak market competitiveness andcohesion between enterprises on the food chain. These deficiencies caused the entire industrial chain’slow efficiency. Internal and external problems made local state-owned enterprises in China struggle.The key to solve this problem is to keep improving the management of develop stably in thecompetition to improve food and scientific management of the food industrial chain to realize highcohesion and increment of value.Taking Beijing Grain Group as the research object, this paper focused on the market position anddevelopment characteristics of local state-owned enterprise, and put forward the view of developing keynodes in the food industrial chain. Besides, this paper analyses Beijing Grain Group’s competitivepower in different nodes and bring out the development strategy.Based on the previous research on the theory of agricultural industrial chain and the developmentof food enterprises, this paper analyses external and internal conditions of Beijing Grain Group andfinds its advantages and disadvantages, as well as the opportunities and challenges. Then the SWOTanalysis is carried on, obtains Beijing grain group chain overall development strategy. Follows acomparative method is used in this paper to analyze the similarities and differences between the big fourinternational food dealer and Beijing Grain Group, this paper gives a conclusion of developing keynodes of food industrial chain as well as a prospect of Beijing Grain Group.The value of this paper is its exhibition of the leading role of the key nodes in food industry, whichhas a guiding significance for the strategy formulation of local state-owned companies.
